The AT2020USB-X is a reimagining of the popular AT2020USB+ microphone. The AT2020USB-X was specially designed to meet the needs of content creators, making it the best microphone for streaming, podcasting, recording music, gaming and video recording. This Audio-Technica microphone offers the critically acclaimed, award-winning sound of the original AT2020 with the convenience of a plug-and-play USB-C operation with a custom desk stand.

This content creator microphone ensures extremely clear, natural sound reproduction thanks to the high-resolution A/D convertor (up to 24-bit/96 kHz sampling rate). This USB-C microphone proves itself to be a high-quality microphone for recording music at home by using directional pickup (cardioid) that keeps the focus on your voice or another chosen sound source. The smooth, extended frequency response is also ideally suited for streaming, podcasting, and music and video production.

The AT2020USB-X features a built-in headphone jack with volume control to let you directly monitor the microphone signal with no delay. It also offers a mix control to let you blend the microphone’s audio with audio from the computer, and has a silent touch-sensitive mute button to quickly and easily mute audio at the microphone.

Optional Accessories: The AT8455 shock mount effectively absorbs vibration noise. It is open in the front to allow easy access to microphone controls and indicators. The shock mount is compatible with 3/8"-16 and 5/8"-27 threaded stands.

How Do They Capture Sound?

Condenser Microphones

Typical condenser microphones use a lightweight membrane/diaphragm (1) and a fixed plate (2) that act as a capacitor. Sound pressure causes this thin membrane to move. This movement changes the capacitance of the circuit creating an electrical signal. The signal is then captured through your recording device or amplified by a powered speaker.

How Do They Capture Sound?

Dynamic Microphones

Dynamic microphones use a diaphragm (1) connected to a coil of wire (2) that surrounds a magnet (3). The diaphragm is moved by changing sound pressure. This moves the coil, which causes current to flow as it moves through the magnetic field. An electrical signal is then sent to your recording device or speakers which records or amplifies the signal. Dynamic microphones are extremely durable and can handle very high sound pressure levels (SPL).
