Audio-Technica today announced that its ATH-ADX5000 Open-Air Dynamic Headphones have received a CES 2018 Innovation Honoree award from the Consumer Technology Association (CTA). In addition, a damper inside the housing further tunes the bass response, and the earcups’ honeycomb outer housing eliminates unwanted side ventilation that could affect the accuracy of the audio reproduction. The ATH-ADX5000 employs a new Integrated Driver Unit, where the large-diameter 58 mm tungsten-coated diaphragm, Permendur magnetic circuit, voice coil and housing are all integrated into a single unit. The tungsten-coated diaphragm is extremely lightweight, yet rigid and responsive and the Permendur magnet provides high efficiency and power handling. This Integrated Driver Unit offers exceptional transient response, resolution of fine musical detail and dynamic capability along with smooth, extended Hi-Res Audio-capable frequency response from 5 Hz to 50,000 Hz. The ATH-ADX5000’s magnesium frame allows a slim, rigid lightweight construction and the earpads are made of environmentally friendly and comfortable Alcantara microfiber material. The headphones feature a detachable cable and an optional balanced cable is available.
