Question: How do I update the 5000 Series 3rd generation receivers to firmware V1.05.00?
Answer: Keeping firmware for the ATW-R5220 and ATW-R5220DAN receivers up to date will ensure the systems are operating to their full potential. The firmware V1.05.00 updates the compatibility with Audio-Technica’s Wireless Manager software and fixes minor bugs. The update may be done on a Windows computer with OS 7 or higher. The updating process is detailed below.
1.Download the firmware update ZIP file from the Audio-Technica website or the following link: https://www.audio-technica.com/media/wysiwyg/product/pdfs/us/atw_r5220_001_005_000_wzd_1_3_0_2_.zip
Included in the ZIP file is the application to transfer the update as well as instructions in PDF form.
2. Be certain the computer and receiver have the same network settings. Attach the ATW-R5220 or ATW-R5220DAN receiver to the Windows computer with a standard Cat5 cable. Power on the computer and receiver.
3. Launch the Update Application “ATW-R5220_001.005.000(Wzd_1.3.0.2).” Select NEXT to begin.
4. Select your receiver. (To identify, click the circle button to the left of the receiver, which will blink the OLED display of the corresponding hardware.) Select NEXT.
5. Note the update progress. Do NOT disconnect the power or power down while updating.
6. Once the update is complete, select CLOSE to end. To update another receiver, select NEXT.
7. Repeat steps #2 – #6 as needed.
If the power is disrupted while updating the firmware, you will need to force an update. If that happens, follow the steps below.
1. Turn off the power of the receiver with the hardware switch on the rear. Then turn the hardware switch back to the ON position.
2. Press and hold the right receiver’s FUNCTION and BACK buttons simultaneously while pressing the soft power button on the front of the receiver. Continue to hold these three buttons until the power button begins to flash, at which time you may release the buttons.
3. Set up your Windows computer to a static IP address. The receiver will reset to a static IP mode with the following values:
a. IP Config Mode: Static
b. IP Address: 192.168.0.20
4. Set your computer to communicate with the receiver. Connect the receiver to the computer via a standard Cat5 cable.
5. Launch the Update Application “ATW-R5220_001.005.000(Wzd_1.3.0.2).” Select “Click here” to open in rescue mode.
6. Click OK on the confirmation screen.
7. Select NEXT.
8. Note the update progress. Do NOT disconnect the power or power down while updating.
9. When the update is complete, select CLOSE to finish.
