Audio Solutions Question of the Week: What Audio Modes Are Available on the 3000 Series Wireless In-Ear Monitor Systems?

Question: What Audio Modes are available on the 3000 Series Wireless In-Ear Monitor Systems?

Answer: There are three audio (AF) modes on the 3000 Series Wireless In-Ear Monitor transmitter (ATW-T3205) – ST (Stereo), MO (Mono), and 3KL (3000 Link) – and three modes on the body-pack receiver (ATW-R3250) – ST (Stereo), MX (Mix), and MB (Mono/Balance).

ATW-T3205 Stereo In-Ear Monitor Transmitter

Set the audio mode according to the intended use. A user may also refer to this as the transmit, or RF, mode.

ST (Stereo) mode: Takes sound from the transmitter’s left and right balanced input jacks and transmits that sound out as a stereo signal to the receiver. Provided the user’s receiver pack is also set to ST (Stereo), a stereo signal will be heard in the user’s attached headphones.

MO (Mono) mode: Takes sound from the transmitter’s left balanced input jack only and transmits that sound as a mono signal to the receiver.

3KL (3000 Link) mode: Signals from the in-ear monitor transmitter can be received by a 3000 Series ATW-R3210 wireless microphone receiver (sold separately), then, by connecting the output of the receiver(s) to powered speakers, amplifiers, recorders, etc., an AC powered transmitter and receiver solution for sending audio wirelessly to one or more of these devices can be achieved.

When Transmitter RF Mode Has Been Set to “Stereo”

ST (Stereo) mode: The stereo input signal is output in stereo to the left and right outputs.

MX (Mix) mode: Mixes the stereo input signal and outputs the same audio to both the left and right outputs.

MB (Mono/Balance) mode: Mixes the stereo input signal and outputs balanced audio in monaural.

When Transmitter RF Mode Has Been set to “Mono” or “3000 Link”

Dual Mono: The signal input in monaural is output to the left and right outputs in monaural.

Mono Bal: The input signal in monaural is output as balanced audio in monaural.
